Practical information about MitID

If you need assistance with MitID, it is crucial that you read this information before making a reservation.

Before you visit Citizen Service, you must choose a MitID user ID and bring it with you. If you have not started the MitID setup online, writing your chosen ID on a piece of paper is sufficient.

MitID User ID Requirements

  • Must contain 5–48 characters
  • Can only include the following characters:
    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzæøå0123456789 {}! # $ ^, * () _ + - =:;?. @ and spaces
  • Must not be the same as your CPR number or consist of 10 digits
  • Must not start or end with spaces
  • Must not already be taken by another MitID user
  • Your user ID is not your password.
  • We recommend preparing multiple user ID options in case your preferred choice is unavailable.
