School-age children who cannot speak Danish when they arrive in Herning will receive basic Danish language tuition. This takes place in 'receiving classes', held at Gullestrup Skole and Sønderagerskolen in Herning.

M0 for kindergarten
M1 for grade one to three
M2 for grade four to six

Sønderagerskolen

Receiving class
Class for grade seven to 18 years of age

Supplementary teaching in Danish as a second language:

Pupils who are proficient enough in Danish to be able to participate in normal schooling, but who also need tuition in Danish as a second language.

The language tuition is organised based on the intermediate and final goals specified in "Fælles Mål" - subject booklet 19 - "Dansk som andetsprog".
