When a company wants to employ foreign employees, it is useful for the employer to be acquainted with some formal matters. This page is meant to assist companies and foreign employees with relevant information.
Recruitment:
Jobcenter Herning – www.jobnet.dk: on this page, the company can advertise for foreign manpower (this is where the embassies look if they receive enquiries). Job advertisements targeted at a specific nationality should be written either in English or in the language of the nationality concerned. On www.workimport.dk there are indicative checklists of personal papers to be obtained before departure, and a checklist of public authorities to be contacted immediately after arrival in Denmark. The website is in German and English.
The Danish embassies in Warsaw, Poland, and in Berlin, Germany, provide various kinds of assistance for recruitment of skilled workers, engineers and other people with a lengthy education. The price is DKK 730.00 per hour.

Residence:
Foreign workers taking up residence in Denmark must contact Citizens’ Service (Borgerservice) in Herning – see the direct phone no. here. To be registered at the national registration office (folkeregistret), a residence permit and a passport must be provided. An entry form must be completed. This is available in four languages: Danish, English, German and French. The person concerned must appear in person. Citizens’ Service is also responsible for public health insurance and family allowances.
The Citizens’ Service personnel dealing with foreign workers speak German and English.
Foreign workers who are not taking up residence in Denmark only have to contact the tax centre (Skattecenter) in Herning. The tax centre will obtain a civil registration number for the person concerned.

Language:
The municipal council offers Danish classes to adult foreign national living in the municipality who are registered at the public registration office.
The offer is for Danish classes for up to three years from the time when the foreign national becomes eligible to start Danish classes – provided, however, that the person continues to have a valid residence permit.
For Danish classes, foreign nationals are usually referred to "Lær dansk Herning".
